Alaskan Airlines is an American airline oddly based in Seattle, Washington, which is not in Alaska. The airline was founded in 1932 as McGee Airlines. The airline serves currently 92 destinations around North America and operate 8 different types of aircraft. They own subsidiaries Horizon Air and SkyWest Airlines.

Virgin America merger[]

After acquiring Virgin America from Virgin Group, a merger was agreed between Virgin America and Alaska Airlines, which in September 2016, a lawsuit was filed to stop the merger, but it failed. In April 2018, the merger was completed. From April 25, 2018, the Virgin America website redirected to the Alaska Airlines website, and then the Virgin Group website, the planes of Virgin America were repainted, and Virgin America's social media profiles, such as its Facebook, Twitter and YouTube were subsequently either merged with those of Alaska Airlines, had their accounts closed, or otherwise had their content largely removed.
