Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) is one of three airports serving Washington, D.C. It is located in Maryland, whereas the other two (Dulles International Airport and Washington National Airport) are located in Virginia. It is a hub for Southwest Airlines. It was renamed after Thurgood Marshall, the first African-American U.S. Supreme Court justice, in 2003. It has three runways.

The airport has a single terminal built in 1979 with five pier concourses. A B and C are used by Southwest while D and E are used by everything else.
