The Chengdu J-10 is a Chinese all weather multirole fighter aircraft designed and manufactured by Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation. Its NATO name is "Vigorous Dragon".

Development of the J-10 begun in the 1980s, while China searched for a aircraft able to compete to newer foreign fighters. Its first flight took place in 1996, but due to an accident it w
as redesigned and a second first flight was made in 1998. It entered service with the Chinese Air Force in 2004. The J-10´s performance in flight is comparable to to the American F-16 Fighting Falcon.
