Dfs 194

The DFS 194 was a german made, rocket powered, tail free, experimental fighter.

History[]

Originally, the DFS 194 was a pusher design with a piston engine. The design however got the attention of the Reich Military Ministry (RMM), as they believed that tail free aircraft were the basis of rocket powered fighters. In early 1940 glide tests were performed. in August the first powered test was conducted, the DFS 194 reaching a top speed of 343 MPH.

Characteristics[]

The DFS 194 had very good flying characteristics, and proved safe at twice it's anticipated speed. It would later be developed into the Me 163 Komet.
