The Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF or simply ASDF) is the aviation branch of the Japan Self-Defense Forces responsible for the defense of Japanese airspace and other aerospace operations.
Some of the activities of the branch include combat air patrols around Japan and maintaining an extensive integrated network of early-warning radar stations.
As of 2010, the JASDF operates 805 aircraft; including 424 fighters.
Just like the German Luftwaffe, the JASDF is only allowed to operate defensive weapons.
