The London Heathrow Airport is a large airport located in the city of London, United Kingdom.
Unlike other airports of similar size, Heathrow only has two runways (north and south of Terminals 2 and 3), and is located in the middle of the suburbs making it near impossible to build a third one. This makes the airport very crowded and Heathrow is the busiest UK airport and the busiest european airport. The airport used to have five terminals but now only has four. The terminals are connected to London by the Heathrow Express (to London Paddington Station) and the London Underground's Piccadilly (Blue) Line.
- Terminal 1 was built in the 1960s and closed in 2015 when all of its airlines moved to the newer Terminal 2.
- Terminal 2 is named « The Queen’s Terminal » and was built in 2014. It is used for Star Alliance airlines. Before this terminal, on the same site, stood the original Terminal 2 which was built in the 1960s.
- Terminal 3 was built in the 1960s and is used for most OneWorld airlines and Virgin Atlantic.
- Terminal 4 was built in 1986 and is located in the south end of the airport. It was used as a hub for British Airways until the opening of Terminal 5. Nowadays, Terminal 4 is used for all SkyTeam airlines.
- Terminal 5 was built in 2008 and is used as British Airways's terminal.
