The Saab 340 AEW&C Eriye is an Airborne Early Warning and Control System (AEW&C), that was based on the Saab 340 airliner. Above the fuselage it is equipped with a large PS 890 radar made by the company Ericsson, it is a "top hat" like radar with a length of 9 m. The radar is able to track a conventional aircraft at a range of 350 km and cruise missiles can be tracked at a distance of 150 km. Before the aircraft's first flight on 17th January 1994 was made, its radar was tested in the year 1990 on a Fairchild Metro III.

Power supply for the electronics is carried out by a 60 kW gas turbine in the rear part of the fuselage; to prevent overheating of the aircraft's electronics, the systems are cooled by a heat exchanger.
